The Yang and Yin of Yama and Niyama
A review of the foundational limbs of yoga during a slow gentle power vinyāsa followed by a soft and gentle yin practice exploring the confluence of moral philosophy, psychology and social neuroscience with insight meditation. The yoga portion of this all levels practice will accompanied by original music composed for optimal ujjāyī breathing. During the overview of the various styles of Vipassanā there will be time for questions, followed by silent practice sessions.
आसान प्राणायाम प्रत्याहारा
Āsana, Prāṇāyāma and Pratyāhāra
An all-levels Bhakti Vinyāsa Flow with original music to assist with maintaining steady ujjāyī prāṇāyāma (6 breaths a minute). The theme will explore sthira (stability) and sukha (joy) with optimal alignment for different body types, a medley of breathing techniques and how to develop interoception. धारणा ध्यान समाधि
Dhāraṇā, Dhyāna and Samādhi
This slow-flowing gentle vinyāsa (with no chaturanga or downdog) will help prepare people of all kinds to be able to sit comfortably in stillness with the help of props. Then the combination of ānaprāṇasmṛti (mindfulness of the exhale and inhale) vipaśyanā (insight) and mettā (loving-kindness) will be offered in a couple different ways as perspective on how to get the best results from sitting daily.
कर्म ज्ञान भक्ति राज़
Karma, Jñāna, Bhakti, and Rāja
Explore the multiple paths to wholeness in this all-levels sequence called 'Forest for the Trees'. After śavāsana and meditation we will explore social vipassanā and some of the ways this technique has been used to help with depression, anxiety, martial issues, and trauma.

Michael Johnson E-RYT 500 has been a full-time yoga instructor for nearly two decades and a teacher trainer for 16 years. He has traveled to India and studied many styles and traditions from Aṣṭāṅga, Bhakti, Karma, Jñāna, Jīvamukti, Rāja, Restorative, Vinyāsa, Vipassanā and Yin. He is a lead instructor for Asheville Yoga Center's 200hr Teacher Training and 300hr Advanced Training Programs.
